Hey y'all,
So I just got done with "Uncut Gems" today after seeing it was at Redbox (life of a broke college student) and considering the Coronavirus scare that's been going on I decided "eh, what do I have to lose except time". Holy shit was this film fantastic. Didn't expect much from Sandler but he really nailed his role as Howard. I also loved how the film made you root for an asshole and without spoiling anything did get what he deserved at the end considering the type of character he is.
But then it got me thinking, why doesn't Sandler do more roles like this?? He's obviously good at them, hell I'd bring up Punch-Drunk Love as another more serious role for Sandler that he does an amazing job in. Sandler has done so many comedies at this point that seeing him in a serious role was a pleasant surprise and the man's an amazing actor. But I guess it's easier making comedies that a HUGE population will go see instead of a more serious drama that doesn't necessarily have a wide-audience in mind.
But these are just my 2 cents, what did y'all think of Uncut Gems or even Sandler being in more serious roles?? With all the craziness that's happening I hope y'all are safe and have an amazing day today!!
