I’m going to be traveling to a South American country soon and I want to buy an unlocked phone to use with a local SIM card. Most of the cheap phones that I can buy online are 3G and the 4G ones are a bit more expensive and I don’t need anything fancy since I can use my regular smart phone on WiFi. Looking at coverage maps it says most of the areas I will be in have 4G. Is 3G likely to also work in the same areas or is it too outdated now?
