Travel the world very rough budget; opinions?

https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

I’ll keep this short.

Context : I’m 19 and saving up for the next 5 years on a £20k salary at the moment which will rise up to 35/40 within the next 5 years.

Once I’ve saved up £50/60k I plan to use that to travel the world rather than buy a house which some may say is crazy but idc.

I’m going to over the next few weeks come up with all the places I want to visit and then give myself a more accurate budget with actual prices from providers and adjust those for inflation to help me save accordingly.

I will stay in each place for a week - 10 days on average, give or take and will fly / travel to the next country / region without returning home first.

Please give me your opinion on the following:

As a rough budget I’d say (rationale in brackets)

60 a night on accommodation. (Going rate for a decent hotel in uk / USA /au is £100 so i say 60 as an average as I’ll also be visiting cheaper countries.)

60x365= 22k

30 a day food (most days I’ll try to eat cheap I.e supermarket food. But I do want to eat out some days. This one is hard to calculate)

30x 365 = 11k

Flights - 300 (all flights one way with baggage allowance)

300 x 40 = 12k

National transport: (5k provision. As this is impossible to estimate)

5k

Spending money : (10k? I wanna do stuff like rent a car in USA maybe iceland aswell. Probablt most of this will be car rentals)

10k

Total: 60k

This is a very conservative but I think / would hope so

Your options and criticisms are very appreciated
