Best short 1.5 week trips

https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

Available departing airports: BWI, IAD, JFK, EWR (and wherever is in between).

Dates: Anytime between May- July

Budget:

  • Don't care about the flight cost. It could be half of the total cost of the trip for all I care.
  • All Hostels and I don't mind spending the night in a train station or airport if needed for late traveling. Night trains/ busses are a plus.
  • Total $2000 or less

Places I'm Interested In:

Pretty much anywhere that's safe. And I really mean ANYWHERE. Minus the UEA.

Key Features I'm looking for and Description:

No specific features I'm looking for. I'd like to experience all of the world in the "backpacking" way as possible. I've taken a bunch of unplanned trips in my life which, while awesome, left me feeling like I missed out on some culturally significant things. I'd like to do some proper research before I go somewhere now.

I am constrained by the traveling allowance given to me by my job (3 weeks), but I realize not everywhere requires three whole weeks to have a great experience. So what places don't? For example, places like Iceland and Greenland probably could be done in a week, right? Where else?
