Hi! I'm in the infant stages of planning this year's Christmas vacation with my wife and college age kid in Germany. The wife especially wants to visit the christmas markets. If it has the fairy tale look, she's in. I'd love to hop all around but she's more of a homebase kinda girl, so it'll likely be a rent an airbnb in one place and day trip from there situation, so probably 2 lodgings total over 10 days. We'll have a typical rental car to get around in.
- My wife loves bakeries, so anywhere known for having lots of bakeries is plus.
- Easy access to at least one of the picturesque christmas markets.
- We don't care about beer or wine at all.
- We very much care about unique and delicious cuisine!
- Mountain views would be nice.
- Close enough for a day trip to a ski area.
- We don't mind crossing borders for a day trip - in fact the wife would probably love it.
If anyone could point me to some areas I should be looking I'd much appreciate it! And I'd love to hear stories or advice from people who've taken Christmas holidays in Germany before. Thanks!
