Basically the title, my husband and I are going to be driving through Provence and the Riveria in September and are torn on which car to rent. We are mainly concerned with the drive through the mountains to the Verdon Gorge. A mini seems like a better option for that, and we like the idea of a convertible. But the rest of the time we will not be doing any treacherous driving so an SUV (Nissan Qashqai or similar) might be better with our luggage. This is out first time driving in Europe from the US. Any thoughts, opinions, advice? I'm not personally familiar with either model of car - I've seen minis before but never been in one.
