My wife and I are struggling to decide on a travel destination in early July 2020 (over the 4th of July). We are looking for something warm and sunny, outside of the US, but not anywhere super touristy. We were close to pulling the trigger on Belize, but are a little turned off by the seaweed issues they've been having during the summer.
Our preferences: We like traveling to places with pretty landscapes, especially with water/beaches.
Good food (and drinks) are very important to us - food has been both our favorite and least favorite aspect of previous trips, and we've taken trips (within the US) specifically for beer and wine.
My wife doesn't handle jet lag well, so a limited time difference is preferred, but not required.
We want a good mix of things to do (snorkeling, hiking, breweries/wineries to visit, great restaurant scene), but not so much to do that we'll feel rushed. We went to Spain earlier this year, and felt guilty for napping because there was so much we should have been doing instead (but it was still lovely).
Our budget is $8,000 for two people for ~8-10 days, and we like to stay in nicer hotels.
We live in Seattle, USA, with American passports, and have previously traveled to Hawaii, Spain, France, England, Italy, and the Cook Islands.
