I poached this from Quora. But their question was "What European city let you down?"
I see no reason to limit it to Europe. In the case of the OP it was Naples.
In my case it's also happens to be a European city. Seville. But this was 20 years ago. For whatever reason Seville was flavor of the month. It was overrun with tourists. The locals were clearly fed up with the situation and it showed. It didn't feel warm and welcoming. I can't say I blame them. I have never seen such an onslaught of tourists. It still puzzles me as to what caused it. I'm guessing a bargain airline must have started service that year. That coupled with the hype in all the magazines created a perfect storm?
So, maybe it's not the city to blame. But it was not a pleasant visit.
