4days/3nights St Thomas & St John, USVI

https://ift.tt/gwAmrWs
4days/3nights St Thomas & St John, USVI

the Good: the Painkillers, the Beaches, Margaritaville Resort, Oceana Restaurant (STT)
the Bad: $20+ rotis/sandwiches/burgers/jerk chicken basically anything
the Ugly: customer service

Driving on the left hardly registers while there, it's coming back home driving right that really melts your brain

Do: rent a car (save on taxi fares) and take the STJ car ferry if more than 3 ppl. $90r/t covers all riders and you have your own transportation

Don't: expect your money will get you better service - gratuity is included anyway

How much time do I need to get through security at the Frankfurt airport?

So I'm Mexican and flying to Sweden next month and I'll have a layover in Germany both on my way there and on my way back. Now, on my way back, at the very beginning of August, I'll have a 6 hour layover in Frankfurt. I have a couple friends in Germany so I told them to come see me at the airport for breakfast for like maybe 2~3 of those hours. Now I just want to make sure what time I'll have to lock back in that day and head to security so I don't miss my flight.

Like, for one, I'm assuming I can leave the security area (I don't need to be able to leave the airport) since I don't need a Schengen Visa. So I don't think there'll be any problems if I leave that area to meet with my friends (I've sorta looked into the layout and I think there's these "buses" that take you to a main area of sorts?).

I'm thinking I'll probably head to security at least 1.5 hours before departure, but I want to know if that's risky? It's a connecting flight between Sweden and Germany that'll take me directly back to Mexico, so I'm not sure if I'll have to go through immigration (I'm assuming yes? But idk).

I've tried researching but the info on this stuff isn't really clear at all and I'm autistic and struggle with vague information so I figured maybe people with the experience could give me a clearer answer. Regardless I'll be asking multiple times at the airports I go through in case they know, as well.

US Declaration Question For Business Trp

I have a business trip to the US coming up to a convention, networking event and will be travelling on an ESTA from the UK.

A client I work has a booth selling artwork (prints) there. However they're worried there order wont arrive from the printing company (based in Europe). I could pick up all of the art and bring it to the US myself via 2 checked bags and give it to them when I'm there.

The art is technically not owned by me, they paid for the printing and I don't profit from the sale, but I would get my flight/hotel compensated.

Does this seem ok on an ESTA?

I've looked around online and it seems ok, but something just seems wrong carry 2 checked bags full of art that will be sold later on in the US. Even though it would be declared, I'm just worried I'd be turned away and future hope of travel via ESTA is gone.

All very complex so any help is appreciated!

Budapest - June 2026

https://ift.tt/m6MluL8
Budapest - June 2026

Finally made it to Budapest.

For some apparent reason, for years I had it in my head that Budapest couldn't be as great as everybody said it was. But after visiting Prague, Tromsø and Stockholm, I wanted a city to contrast the previous three cities. Budapest was that contrast. A beautifully lived in city with so much personality it doesn't know what side it wants to show you. The grandiose of statues of great Hungarian leaders of the past mixed with huge lions protecting palaces, followed by the unbelievable accomplishments in architecture of buildings like Parliament. This was a city so full of life and history you could spend a lifetime there and not see everything. The city is a photography cheat sheet, these are only a handful of the shots that I managed to get from the city. I hope you all make it out to this city at least once in your lives.

Is Taboga Island, Panama worth visiting for a long weekend?

I am planning to visit Panama City for my 29th birthday the first weekend of August and I am thinking of a Wednesday-Monday situation. My intention is to sit on a beach all weekend, have drinks and relax. I would like to do outdoor activities, like snorkeling, hiking, being on a boat, etc. After reading Panama City has no swimmable beaches, I came across Taboga Island.

There are so many mixed reviews, and most people only go for a day trip. Would this be suitable for a long weekend or are there any other places that might fit my needs better? Thank you!

Dilemma- Amsterdam/Porto vs Hong Kong/Bangkok

I have a really great opportunity to join a friend for one part of a long term cruise. The limiting factor is time- I work in healthcare and have about 8 work days I can be away. I'll be travelling from the Eastern US. Im not as worried about cost both with flights/food. I do think I will make it to both Amsterdam and to Thailand at some point, so while this doesn't feel "once in a lifetime" it does feel really unique.

Option 1: Amsterdam to Porto

Pros: shorter travel time, easier/less jet lag, comfort traveling to/from solo, always wanted to visit Amsterdam, love porto

Cons: I've been to Porto twice, europe 4 times, this feels like not taking full advantage of a unique opportunity

Option 2: Hong Kong to Bangkok

Pros: I've never been to Asia and Thailand has always been on my list, very novel food, nature, culture

Cons: significantly more travel time, less confident as female solo traveler, high likelihood of jet lag (i would need to return to work within 2 days of returning), ends right at Christmas (not the hugest of deals but I do enjoy family time during the holidays)

I think I know what most of you would say, as this is a travel sub, but ive gotten some really good info and advice on here in a balanced insightful way and im feeling a bit stuck. Thanks in advance for any insight!

Split → Dubrovnik → Kotor road trip in August — advice needed!

**First time visiting Croatia & Montenegro — does our 8-night itinerary make sense? Any advice welcome!**

My friend and I are heading to the Adriatic in August and would love some feedback on our plan. We're flying into Split, renting a car, and doing a loop through Dubrovnik and Kotor before ending back in Split. Here's the rough breakdown:

- **Night 1:** Arrive Split (really travel day - only can grab dinner)

- **Nights 2-4:** Dubrovnik (3 nights)

- **Nights 5-6:** Kotor, Montenegro (2 nights)

- **Nights 7-8:** Drive back to Split with coastal stops (Pelješac, Makarska, Omiš), 2 nights back in Split

A few questions:

  1. Is 3 nights in Dubrovnik the right call or is that too long / not enough?

  2. Any must-stop towns on the drive back from Kotor to Split we shouldn't miss?

  3. City recs - if you have any that aren't on the list - please let me know.

Thanks in advance — this community always comes through! 🙏

P.S. I saw about wait times at the border - we are early morning people and would get a good start on the day if that helps.

ATL Airport Terminal Swap

Hi all!

Got a flight coming up and looking for some advice for navigating ATL airport! I’ve got a Delta Flight LAS-ATL. Then later in the day a BA flight ATL-LHR. BA email tells me terminal I, but nothing on the Delta flight. I assume I’m coming in from South Domestic terminal. They are seperate bookings so collecting luggage then trying to work out how to get to the BA check in!

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Layover in Vancouver with pets

Hi!

Has anyone flown internationally with pets and connected through Vancouver (YVR)? I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience.

I'm flying from Thailand to Calgary with Air Canada. I will have:

A cat in the cabin

A dog traveling in the cargo hold

My pets will have the required health certificate issued by the Thai government veterinary authority, as well as rabies vaccination certificates.

I'm trying to understand exactly what happens upon arrival in Vancouver. From what I've gathered, I will need to:

  1. Go through immigration and customs.

  2. Collect my dog from the oversized baggage/live animal area.

  3. Present the pets and documents for inspection if required.

  4. Proceed to the domestic connection area and re-check the dog for the Vancouver-Calgary flight.

Is that correct? Were your pets inspected by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) or only by customs? How long did the process take, and was there a designated pet relief area available during the connection?

Any tips or things you wish you had known in advance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
