I have a really great opportunity to join a friend for one part of a long term cruise. The limiting factor is time- I work in healthcare and have about 8 work days I can be away. I'll be travelling from the Eastern US. Im not as worried about cost both with flights/food. I do think I will make it to both Amsterdam and to Thailand at some point, so while this doesn't feel "once in a lifetime" it does feel really unique.
Option 1: Amsterdam to Porto
Pros: shorter travel time, easier/less jet lag, comfort traveling to/from solo, always wanted to visit Amsterdam, love porto
Cons: I've been to Porto twice, europe 4 times, this feels like not taking full advantage of a unique opportunity
Option 2: Hong Kong to Bangkok
Pros: I've never been to Asia and Thailand has always been on my list, very novel food, nature, culture
Cons: significantly more travel time, less confident as female solo traveler, high likelihood of jet lag (i would need to return to work within 2 days of returning), ends right at Christmas (not the hugest of deals but I do enjoy family time during the holidays)
I think I know what most of you would say, as this is a travel sub, but ive gotten some really good info and advice on here in a balanced insightful way and im feeling a bit stuck. Thanks in advance for any insight!
