It gets a bit confusing because there is Cusco, Ollantaytambo & Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu) & now I am finding out Rainbow Mountain is south of Cusco, away from Machu Picchu near Checacupe?
When I look up "Sacred Valley" it seems to mix everything but I am not exactly sure what is in each town and how people typically plan their trip. I had incorrectly assumed Ollantaytambo was close to Rainbow Mountian but it's at least 3 hours away by car?
I get the impression everyone hates Aguas Calientes and tries to be there as little as possible just to visit Machu Picchu. Ollantaytambo has many activities but unsure how much there is ( Maras salt mines, Moray, and Chinchero) ? And in Cusco, what do people generally enjoy in Cusco itself?
The main problem I am finding is when I look up "top things to do in Cusco " (and for Ollantaytambo ) Macchu Picchu shows up and I am unsure if the lists are actually accurate or if they are describing a general region that contains many towns.
How much time do people spend in each place? I am not in a rush but also want to get a sense of how much there is to do in each town.
EDIT: I am seeing now in a map that there is Pisac, Urubamba , and Chinchero are "towns" and not part of Ollantaytambo but each town has its own ruins/attractions?
I'm also seeing perhaps using Urubamba and / or Cusco as a home base to do day trips near by. I was going to stay a few nights in Ollantaytambo on the train back from Machu Picchu but it seems I may only need a night there (or zero nights really) and head to Urubamba instead and use that as my actual home base, then go to Cusco, do a few day trips from there (Pisac namely) and then consider Rainbow Mountain & stay a night or two in Checacupe.
Edit #2: It seems most people recommend using Ollantaytambo as a homebase since it's more beautiful and cheaper than Urubamba. Even though logisticall Urubamba is closer to the salt mines, etc.
Thanks in advance
Hey everyone,
I am planning a surprise trip for my husband. He loves lighthouses but has never seen one irl because we live in central/east Europe and we don't have access to sea. We have been through a lot lately - he got a new job that he doesn't like, but can't leave because it pays well. I got pregnant and we were happy, but we lost the baby. So we really deserve a nice trip. So what are the most beautiful lighthouses you have seen? Ideally in Europe. Thanks :)

Not a audio/video expert but pretty sure this is 8k audio and Dolby video quality so there shouldn’t be any complaints. Laserdisc [link] [comments] |

Hello! I currently live in Sweden (originally from NL). My partner currently lives in the USA. I visited her twice in 2022 with no issues (a month each time, about 3 months between visits). She has also come to visit me. This year I visited April 18th - July 11th which is 85 days. On entry to the USA I was held in customs for 2 hours. They told me I might not get in next time I visit and to expect that I get sent home essentially. I had a return ticket already and return train tickets. I know it is partially because I do not currently have a job or go to school and they're worried I will work illegally or try to stay here.
Can they really keep me from entering the USA if I don't have a job in Sweden? I live with my parents and we've been moving while we look for a permanent house- on top of not being able to speak Swedish yet. I have enough money to support myself for the duration of my travels and am able to stay with my partner while I am there. I have never overstayed, have always had a return ticket. We are trying to plan a trip for Christmas (3-4 weeks). Has anyone ever had trouble with this? I'm very nervous about getting sent back as traveling is hard for me as it is. Thanks for any advice.

Hi was hoping to get your opinion on a last minute Vietnam trip in November. This is my tentative plan so far
11/3 - fly
11/4 - arrive Hanoi (930pm)
11/5 - Hanoi
11/6 - Hanoi
11/7 - Hanoi
11/8 - Ninh binh day trip (sleep hanoi)
11/9 - Bai Tu Long Bay Cruise (3 days 2 nights)
11/10- Bai Tu Long Bay Cruise
10/11 - Back to Hanoi (arrive around 4pm)
11/12 - fly to Hoi An / Danang
11/13 - central / day trips
11/14 - central / day trips
11/15 - travel to HCMC
11/16 - HCMC
11/17 - Cu Chi tunnels and Mekong Delta
11/18 - fly home from HCMC
My partner lives in Ithaca, 4 hrs north of NYC. I visit her every two months but the flights to Ithaca are crazy expensive from Long Beach where I live (I typically fly out from LAX), so I fly to JFK, Laguardia, Newark (which are typically cheaper than Ithaca but still expensive) and take a bus from there which is still a hassle. Otherwise I fly to Syracuse which is an hour away, but it's roughly the same cost as Ithaca. Is there an airline subscription/card/travel hack I can use to do these frequent trips in the long run? Even if It's only to NYC and back, it'll be great to know as looking for cheap flights every time is exhausting and I'm currently managing these trips through points from Chase sapphire.

Hey guys, so I am going to Europe in December and we got everything booked (hotels and flights). I was going through Delta and messing around with changing the flight and it showed that I am able to leave a few days earlier for no price difference, potentially landing in a different city as well for no cost.
Here is our schedule:
Flying to Pairs on 12/09, arriving 12/10
Staying in Pairs til 12/15
Going to London from 12/15 to 12/20
Going to Barcelona fro 12/20 to 12/23
Leaving to go back home on 12/23
With that schedule, do you guys think its worth leaving a few days early to get more time in Paris or even to go to a different country til the 9th?

We just booked our trip and staying at the Hyatt. Any excursion ideas involving the water ? We’d like to also do a dinner cruise as well
Can you suggest simple trails? By simple i mean max 30 minutes or less one way for hiking. I am not physically fit so i barely can do the 30 minutes. I have done the sabbady and Ripley falls already.
Also what can i carry with me as protection? I am traveling solo for the first time so Everytime i go hiking ,i feel i am gonna be attacked by a bear or copycat of hills have eyes people.
What kind of other activities i can do ? Is the Cog train worth it? Is there something similar to it?
I am more about nature and ourdoors. not interested in drinking or brewery stuff.
TIA
I'll be in Florence at the end of September and obviously want to check out some wineries. Can you just go them and pay for a tasting or do you have to book a tour in advance? I already have several tours booked in other cities and I don't want my whole trip to be so structured.

Hey everyone! I mostly wanted to post this in hopes that this could be a few individuals Google/Reddit search results when they may be in the same situation I was in.
As the title suggests, I unfortunately forgot my international driver’s permit after I had already left for Spain. There are countless posts on Reddit, Trip Advisor, or otherwise that say something along the lines of, “You really don’t need the IDP, you’ll be fine.” There’s a handful that say you need it too, but I found very few 2023 posts, so I thought I’d share my experiences in hopes to help someone else.
First, for a US tourist, the ONLY place to get an IDP is AAA in the US (quick and easy, $20), or you can wait 5-7 weeks for them to ship it to you while you’re abroad. For myself, I was lucky to have my friend in the US use international priority shipping to get it to me in 3 days for ~$100, and it arrived the day before we needed to drive thankfully. As a tip, I highly suggest using FedEx International Priority as they offered scheduled delivery and money back guarantee if not delivered on that date (assuming customs or weather doesn’t delay the package). USPS offers a similar product with GXG, however they use FedEx to ship internationally anyways, so I suggest choosing FedEx as they will preferentially ship their mail first. I used GXG and wished I went to FedEx, it caused a bigger headache than necessary imo.
I rented through Wiber in Mallorca, so this is my personal experience, but they asked for my IDP specifically and then told me that 2-3 months ago there was a local Mallorca ordinance/law that was passed to crack down on rental companies not asking for IDPs for tourists. I don’t know how to fact check this, but I also don’t know why an employee such as this would make this up.
Thank you for reading, and I hope this may help point someone in a clearer direction in the future if they are a similar situation!
