Advice on an October trip to Italy (by train)

https://ift.tt/m5waV1R

As the title suggests, my boyfriend and me are going to Italy in roughly the two last weeks of October. We are going to arrive by train and are leaving from Milan by plane. We have reserved some airbnbs but are wondering how to work out our schedule.

We have talked about visiting Rome, Florence, Venice, Lake Como and the Amalfi coast. We are thinking of starting the trip by getting to Venice, being there for 1-2 nights and naturally spending the last night in Milan to get to our flight.

Initially we thought we'd go 2 nights Venice -> 2 nights Sorrento -> 3 nights Rome -> 3 nights Florence -> 1-2 nights Varenna -> 1 night Milan, but we're starting to wonder if the trip from Venice to Sorrento is too much for one day. We're also wondering if Como is worth it during October (it'll be a lot warmer than our home country though).

Is this a too rushed itinerary? Should we trust trains to get us from Stockholm to Venice in two days? (Sat morning - Sun evening) Any tips are welcome!
