So my boyfriend has family in Gatlinburg TN that he hasn't seen in years and he wants me to come with him. We'd love to take a train because neither of us has been on one but I'm not sure how to do that, which train line is the best, seats or room, etc. His family all live in either tiny houses or trailers (there wouldn't be enough room for us) so we'd like to stay in an AirBNB but a hotel is ok (though we'd rather the privacy and space of an AirBNB) I don't know how to budget for a week's stay in TN. The best I've done was a long weekend trip to the beach. If we take a train, we'd have to rent a car (which I've never done lol so I'm clureless about that). Would Uber be better than renting a car?
We've both got jobs, he's 9-5, I'm 7-4, and its hard for both of us to take a full week off. I'm doing the planning pretty much on my own unfortuantly. When is the best time of year to go to TN? What is the best way to get there? Neither of us wants to drive 12 hours back and forth out of state and get horribly lost. Where would be more economical to stay (hotel or AirBNB)? What is there to see/do in Gatlinburg besides family? Are the national parks worth it?
