The village of Ford in Northumberland. Not too far from the border town of Berwick-upon-Tweed. I found the church and graveyard here in Ford absolutely gorgeous, even in the rain. Northumberland is an overlooked county in England, but there few people living here and so it’s good for quiet countryside and historic escapes. [link] [comments] |

I’ve come to the conclusion that either I’m a complete idiot, or this is some kind of global scheme to rip off tourists. Either is possible honestly. I swear I’ve never been anywhere that the price I’m charged is even remotely close to the “that cab ride shouldn’t be any more than X” info you find online. My last go round was in Lisbon, where all the info I found said a cab ride from an official airport cab to Alfama shouldn’t be more than 15€. The guy charged me 40€!!! It was like a 12 minute ride, and I started my phone with Google maps to see if he was taking me a long way or something, which he didn’t.

Hi all! I have 3 nights to figure out between Rome and leaving for Palermo. I was originally thinking the Amalfi coast (specifically Sorrento) but then an acquaintance scared me saying how busy the Amalfi coast is and how it takes hours to get a bus. Is this true? I’m curious what others experiences have been.
She suggested I do a night in Naples and 2 nights in Capri as an alternative but Capri looks expensive. I’m backpacking. I want to go to Pompeii as a day trip but other that open to other experiences.
How does one travel affordably to Greece from JFK, New York? We're planning to depart in either May or July 2024. We would appreciate recommendations on airlines, places to stay, etc. Thanks in advance.
Me and my family are going to Gatlinburg this summer and I was wondering what we could do for fun around there.
I’m traveling from Chicago to Athens, Greece and have a 2 hour layover in Istanbul. I won’t go through customs and security until I get to my final destination in Greece right? And just would stay in terminal to get to my connecting flight? Wasn’t sure since that layover is an incoming flight from the U.S.
