We are headed to Switzerland October 12-23. We are flying in and out of Zurich, and we already have booked the first five nights in Wengen to get the Alps experience (cutting it close on the season, but husband's work is paying so beggars can't be choosers). We are planning on staying in Zurich the last two nights, both to catch our flight but also because I want to visit the zoo. So that leaves the middle four nights.
I know we can't see everything in 12 days, but the options are overwhelming. Do we stay in Zermatt instead of just doing a day trip? Do we try to spend a few nights on the French boarder and eat our weight in cheese and chocolate? Do we go east and try to take a train into northern Italy?
Any suggestions for where to stay and what to do in the middle of our trip would be incredible. Bonus points for recommending a specific hotel or AirBnB.
